When it comes time to start planning the look of your wedding reception, your first thought will likely be centerpieces and linens for guest tables. However, you'll also need to consider the look of your own table! Though many couples take the traditional path to sit with family, the wedding party, or friends at a long head table throughout the reception, other brides and grooms of late have chosen to sit at a sweetheart table for just the two of them.

To make your sweetheart table stand out – and place you both as the focal point of the reception – there are a variety of romantic design elements you can consider. In lieu of using the same chairs placed at guest tables, sit together on an antique love seat, a tufted settee, or throne-like chairs. Decorate the table with personalized elements that are special to you as a couple, or choose a glamorous floral arrangement that sets your tablescape apart from those at guest tables. For a true wow factor, suspend a chandelier above the sweetheart table or place the table beneath a beautifully draped arch or canopy.
